A groundswellof interest in beading and jewelry making followed, and led to the spin-offofBead Stylemagazine in 2003 andArt Jewelrymagazine in 2005, plus amultitude of special issues over the years. But times have changed and many readers have migrated to the internetfor jewelry-making instructions and inspiration. So it was with great regret at the end of last yearthat Kalmbach Publishing shuttered both of our sister titles in favor of a new online learningenvironment that will be unveiled soon (stay tuned!). So we have gone full circle, in a sense, and in the coming months, long-time readers ofBead&Buttonmay notice a slight shift backtoward the range of topics covered in earlier issues. While still delivering the bead stitchingprojects we know you love, we will also bring some other techniques into the mix. For thoseof you who are receivingBead&Buttonin place of the magazine you originally subscribedto, we hope you’ll join us in our creative journey. As the saying goes, as one door closes, another one opens. I hope you’ll like what you find when you venture in.To play along with our Find the Bead Strand contest, find the bead strand drawing (just likethe one shown at right) that is hidden in the issue. Email me by July 5 with the page the strandis on (put “Find the bead strand” in the subject line). We’ll pick a winner the following week.Congratulations to Cheryl Major of Flushing, Michigan, who won our December issue contest!Find thebeadstrand!for yourchanceto in !CHAINMAILJEWELRYCHIC PROJTO COMP ECTSLEYOUR LOOK TEMODERNMarilyn GardinerEditor,Bead&Buttoneditor@beadandbutton.comEditorJulia GerlachSenior Art DirectorLisa A.
